If you have a petite figure and want to put on something with a flair to defy the Summer heat-wave, I recommend this season’s collection by Promod. It’s subtle but original, as well as girly, frilly and simply fun. My absolute favourites are the 3 dresses I put in the first row, and you can view the entire collection at www.promod.eu

The Summer sales are on and the Summer still continues, so whatever great summer dresses we manage to find on the sales racks we’ll be able to show off still this season ;-) So here is another suggestion for a line of beautiful and original Summer dresses – the collection by Wallis. It’s elegant, rich with colours, eye-catching, and the designs are figure-flattering for every size. Below are a few I like most – especially the first 3 in the top row – and you can find more here. Let’s go shopping!
Since I’ve moved to Poland I’ve been looking for a clothing brand available here which adds creativity to is design, in the same way as the Dutch Didi or the English Monsoon. I’m still looking, but in the meantime I came across an interesting line launched recently by the Scandinavian brand KappAhl, called the Folklore Tales. Interesting designs, beautiful embroidery and a dash of romantic – the result is quite intriguing. Below are a few pieces from the collection, and you can browse all of them here.
When Summer begins so do all the Summer parties, including Summer weddings. So if you want to go to one and avoid being dressed in exactly the same way as half of the other female guests, all you need to do is to find a creative dress.
This is, of course, easier said than done – I realise that. But let me recommend you one eye-catching collection in which I think there’s something perfect for everyone – the new collection by Monsoon. You’ll find here dresses suitable for every occasion, from a Summer evening grill party or a Summer wedding, dresses which make a huge statement or are a bit more modest – depending on what you like, and finally dresses flattering for every type of female silhouette. Here are a few which I like most, and you can view the entire collection here. Enjoy! The Summer is coming and the warm temperatures outside mean that it’s high time to switch to summer wardrobe. And it’s a perfect time to add some colour, carelessness and imagination to what you wear! One interesting suggestion is the Summer collection by Rosalita McGee, a Spanish designer who specialises in fantastic dresses. Take a look at the photos below, showing some of her collections from the last two years – her fashion creations are vibrant, optimistic and very feminine. I have a special weakness for the red dress with a Chinese doll shown on the photo on the right – cute, isn’t it? ;-) You can see more on Rosalita’s website if you click here. Enjoy! As of yesterday I have a new favourite photographer – Michel Tcherevkoff. He’s known mainly for his work on advertisement photography for major cosmetic brands, he earned this title for the one amazing project he created – Flower Footwear (“Shoe-Fleur” – see cover on the left). The book is a stunning imaginary collection of shoes (with matching handbags, no less!!!) created from botanical photos. More precisely – every item is meticulously crafted from photographs of a single plant or flower. It’s a glorious homage to shoes, to beauty, to art and I guess also to all the women. See the two amazing photos below to see what I mean: And here are all the other prints from this one-of-a-kind collection which I could find on the Internet – there are many, many others in the book, all divided into a number of collections and with stories behind their creation… It takes an amazing imagination and creativity, paired with skill, to create something so elegant, charming, playful and both simple and complex at the same time. The official website of the project can be found here. And here – just to give you an idea – is one of the amazing bags designed to accompany the fairy-tale shoes… I so wish it could be real…
Spring is here and so is the strong craving to change something. I guess a lot of people get a sudden burst of enthusiasm towards "spring cleaning" but what I get is a modified version of it - I want to change something, e.g. my hair colour or my wardrobe. Now, this year the hair colour is not an option since only quite recently I've hit a jackpot on the exactly right red/ginger hair colour I've always wanted, and changing an entire wardrobe is as usual rather expensive. So instead I fell in love with a bag collection which I'm sure would add a splash of colour and flair to any wardrobe! I've written about Pip Studio before, but back then I was mainly focusing on their porcelain. I had no idea that they have annual collections of high-fashion bags too, and once I saw it, I was a total goner... The bags are not exactly cheap, but I think this time I'm willing to splurge on it and treat myself to one awesome Spring bag - I just need to decide which one!!! I have three favourites so far - please give me your thoughts what you think! Here is the one I think I like most: And here are two other runner-ups for the first place, and they're really close behind the one above!!! Those Spring shopping dilemas.. And here come a few others from the Spring/Summer 2010 line. Visit Pip Studio website to view the entire collection!
So the question is: Which one shall I choose?! It just started to rain and the walk to work this morning required some serious fighting against the Dutch unrelenting wind, but it’s still relatively warm so I’m not loosing my hope that Spring has indeed arrived. And I remain in the mood for spring shopping ;-) Yesterday it was all about shoes, today it’s all about bags – my biggest shopping weakness, I admit… Monsoon Accessorize is a well-established UK brand, famous across Europe for its original, colourful, bold and optimistic designs. And the Spring collection of Accessorize bags is definitely all that. There are day bags, weekend bags, evening clutches, shoppers and whatever else you might need. I totally fell in love with this flower-shaped clutch on the photo above – it’s a definite eye-catcher, sassy and sexy, which can bring glamour to almost every simple dress!!! And which one do you like most? You can browse the whole range of Monsoon Accessorize if you click here. Finally a warm day with first signs of Spring – although that characteristic fresh smell of Spring is still not out there. But the temperatures went up and the sun went out, so I’m beginning to think Spring clothes again (finally!!!). Always when the winter gloom is about to end I get this strong craving for colourful clothes and accessories with flower prints. Fortunately there are many out there, and I recently came across a UK brand – Irregular Choice – which specializes in – as the name indicates – irregular shoes and accessories. And believe me, their designs live up to their name and fall in line perfectly with my need for spring colour. Take a look at the gallery below – these shoes might be slightly on the kitsch size, sure, but they're also original, creative, colourful, optimistic and simply fun (probably more fun to watch than to wear, but still)…I deliberately did not say comfortable since I very much doubt they are, but with shoes like that, who cares? ;-) You can find these and more if you click here. I’ve always thought that T-shirts are fun and considered them as one of the more creative pieces of clothing. While at a first glance they seem to be one of the simplest ones, they’re like “tabula rasa” on which designers can create almost everything – there’re thousands of prints, sew-ons, texts etc which can turn this T-shaped piece of fabric into one of your favourite after-work outfits with a statement. Not to mention that nowadays very often you can wear it also at work, match it with trendy jackets, big jumpers, jeans vests and so much more. And they’re almost always affordable – great for collecting, and also great as gifts for your friends. This year a Christmas T-shirt collection by Cubus – a Scandinavian designer – has caught my eye. A few crazy T-shirts which actually go against colour-matching rules, but somehow on them it works – I’ve a soft spot for the red one with the snowman. So treat it as one more Christmas gift inspiration :-) |
